Government of New Brunswick - ActionNB
ActionNB, under the supervision of the Finance and Treasury Board (FTB), is a student-led project that focuses on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) within the Government of New Brunswick (GNB).
To gain a better understanding of the current IDEA practices at GNB and their effects on employees, the 2022 GNB Employee Experience Survey was analyzed with an IDEA lens. Two main survey questions that ActionNB focused on were:
I am comfortable expressing my identity at work (i.e., physical, cultural, spiritual, emotional self)
In my department or agency, I see strong leadership support for diversity and inclusion.
Through the results, ActionNB has identified key areas of improvement for GNB people leaders. Building upon these insights, a comprehensive research was conducted to develop the IDEA-based Action Plans. These Action Plans will be integrated into Qualtrics, the survey platform, providing GNB people leaders with easy access.
By coming together and creating IDEA-based Action Plans, ActionNB aims to help GNB people leaders foster a workplace culture where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive professionally, regardless of their background or identity. By doing so, not only will the employee experience improve, but the overall performance of each department will also increase.
The creation of the IDEA Action Plans involved a comprehensive approach, combining data from Interjurisdictional Scans at the Provincial levels and External Jurisdictional Scans at the Corporate levels. Additionally, interviews and surveys were conducted with GNB leaders who demonstrated exceptional proficiency in IDEA practices within their respective departments/teams
